Dear Legislator,

Please do everything within your power to reduce or eliminate proposed reductions in state funding for our schools.

Prior to making any cuts in school funding, please look at both sides of the ledger and consider tax policies to reduce the need to cut education funding. In addition, please support using funds from the Revenue Stabilization Fund to reduce cuts to public education.

Finally, any cuts in public education funding should be minimized and of a temporary nature. One-time cuts should be employed only if necessary. There should be no changes to the funding formula which would reduce education funding even after the economy improves.

The General Assembly should provide localities and school divisions maximum flexibility to suspend specific mandates and manage specific public education reductions.
